About the geckos: they are pets belonging to my girlfriend. She also has some fire-bellied toads and a green tree frog. Over the years, she has had bearded dragons, a collared lizard, iguanas, and a few other types of reptiles.

Perhaps the most interesting thing about geckos is their ability to run easily along vertical surfaces, or even upside down. Here is an interesting article about how they do it, and what scientists are learning from them.
