During the week, I have my clock radio turn on a classical music station at 6:30 a.m. I prefer to wake up gently, rather than being blasted out of bed by an alarm. This works well unless I am very tired, as I was this morning after having stayed up too late the night before. Fortunately, they started playing some very rousing music, so I only slept in for about 20 minutes.

At work, we are getting started on a large new project. In our business (oil and gas production accounting software), we are driven by government regulatory changes. The new project involves submitting information to the government using the internet, where it will be accessible to all interested parties. The overall idea seems like a good one, that should simplify life for oil and gas companies. How it will work in practice remains to be seen. I have seen several "simplification" projects before; they didn't work quite as planned. In any event, it will keep us busy for the next year or so.
