Glenbow Museum

Shakyamuni Buddha

Spent a few hours at the Glenbow Museum. My favorite exhibit was one called Many Faces, Many Paths: Art of Asia where I took the picture to the right, of Shakyamuni Buddha as an ascetic before his enlightenment (click on it for larger image). There were many other statues of Buddha, Shiva, Kali et al.

Another interesting exhibit was Unexpected Treasures from the Vault, which included suits of armor, Ethiopian religious icons, a birch bark canoe, larger-than-life portraits from the 19th Century, and much more.

A few examples of trees broken by the accumulation of snow, as mentioned in my last post. The snow is gone, but the damage remains.
