Heritage Park

Steam train

After seeing the paddlewheeler on Glenmore last weekend, I was keen to visit Heritage Park. It's odd that I've never been there in all the years I've lived in Calgary. Anyway, I spent most of Saturday there. I rode on the steam train pictured above, as well as on the paddlewheeler. I had breakfast in a cafe in one of the historic buildings, with the waitresses in period costumes (as are all park staff). I visited a blacksmith's shop, an old newspaper office, a railway car shop, an automotive museum (Gasoline Alley), an aboriginal encampment, and so on. The weather was perfect, and it was a most enjoyable day.

A few examples of trees broken by the accumulation of snow, as mentioned in my last post. The snow is gone, but the damage remains.
