I now have an iPod Touch. It's an impressive little device. I like the small form factor, the bright colour screen, the great sound quality through my Denon headphones, and the well-designed software. I resisted buying one for a long time, but it's an ideal upgrade from my Palm PDA and my Cowon mp3 player. I have a wireless router on order, so I will be able to use the iPod's wi-fi capability at home. I was a little concerned about using iTunes, having heard some criticisms, but it seems easy to use.

In a couple of weeks, I'm going to Palm Springs for a vacation. I hope the weather is decent. Also that we don't get strip-searched or have to go through too much nonsense at the airport. I'm glad it's only a 3 hour flight, what with not being able to take any carry-on luggage. As long as I can carry a book, my wallet and travel documents on board I should be OK. I'm going for a slightly longer stay than last year, but it will actually cost less. I plan to visit some of the areas I missed last time, like the Salton Sea and Anza-Borrego Park, as well as seeing more of Palm Springs itself. And of course I plan to do plenty of relaxing (and some geocaching).

A few examples of trees broken by the accumulation of snow, as mentioned in my last post. The snow is gone, but the damage remains.
