I walked across the Bow River (on the pedestrian bridge from Princes Island to the north bank) this morning for the first time in months. I half expected that the river would be completely frozen over, but there was plenty of open water. Only two weeks until the official start of spring!

Tonight, we are in the middle of a snow storm -- thick, powdery flakes that are covering the streets and the buildings below my apartment -- and the temperature is dropping into the deep sub-zero region.
