I took L out to dinner at a local steakhouse tonight to celebrate 35 years together. We had salad and steak with a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon, and for dessert we shared a chocolate soufflé. It's hard to believe that we've been together that long. Usually on these occasions we say that we're ready for another year, but this time we said five years. Time's moving faster, and a year just doesn't seem that long any more.

Yesterday we went to a ravine in the north-west section of the city to do some geocaching. There's a man-made wetland there, and we saw ducks as well as some other birds I couldn't identify.

By the time we were done, we were both exhausted. It was hot and sunny, and though we probably didn't walk more than a mile or two, there was a lot of climbing and bushwhacking involved. At one point, L's pant legs were covered in burrs after hiking up a hill through dense brush. Somehow I missed picking up any burrs, but I did bang into a tree coming out of a wooded area, bruising my shoulder.

A few examples of trees broken by the accumulation of snow, as mentioned in my last post. The snow is gone, but the damage remains.
