Second day of spring

The ice is starting to break up. Walking by the river, I could hear the occasional crack, and once saw a big chunk of ice fall in. See the two kids walking on the thick ice in the middle of this picture? I thought they were being reckless walking around out there, thick though the ice appears. After I took the picture, they walked onto one of the edge bits that is slanting down toward the water and started jumping up and down on it! Fortunately, it held.
