This picture is of me, my mother and my sister. It was taken in 1953. My mother died twenty years ago, and my sister now has two grown children and a couple of grandchildren.
Before she died, my mother asked if I would forget her when she was gone. I replied that of course I wouldn't; one doesn't forget one's mother. There have been very few days since when I haven't thought of her. Certainly I've been thinking of her a great deal today.
