Sheep River

I rented a car today and headed south-west of Calgary, with the aim of viewing the last of the autumn leaves. I should probably have done this a few weeks ago, as most of the leaves had already fallen. There were some patches of colour, especially in areas of bush and grass. It was a good trip, though, and a beautiful Indian summer day.

I ended up at the Sheep River Wildlife Sanctuary, a place I've never been before. There is supposed to be a herd of bighorn sheep in the area, but I didn't see them. Saw a few longhorn cattle, though. I hiked down from the viewpoint where I took this picture to the river, a fairly steep climb.
