One elevator is out of order in this apartment building. There are only two elevators, so that means we have one working elevator for 200 suites, resulting in long, frustrating waits.

I've been keeping L provided with a stack of interesting books from the library. Every time I hear about a book that I think she might like, I go to the library's website, see if it is available and if it is, add it to my list. She doesn't like reading fiction, so it's a tall order. Her favourite, so far: Bill Bryson's A Short History of Nearly Everything.

My brother mentioned to me that he is planning to retire in a year, when he turns 60. I'm thinking of retiring in a year, too, but I'm having a hard time planning for it or even thinking about it. I seem to spend more time and effort planning relatively trivial things (like buying a new computer) than on big picture items like career and life planning. I don't know if that is an individual personality flaw, or just human nature. Anyway, things usually seem to work out for me.

It's supposed to be a warm, sunny weekend here. A pleasant change from the wind, rain and cold of the past few days.
