Hanauma Bay
Hanauma Bay, a cove formed when the outer wall of a volcanic crater collapsed, letting the ocean in. The dark areas underwater are coral reefs.

Kuhio Beach
We walked along Kuhio Beach one morning just after sunrise. It had been raining on and off.

Along the North Shore. The road is on the right, and the beach is on the left.

The North Shore, on the way to the beach. If I recall correctly, this was Sunset Beach.

The surf on the North Shore was high that day, about 15 feet. The previous day it had been 40 feet.

These surfers were up for the challenge.
