I went to a bank machine today to get some spending money, and I received some of the new Canadian $20 bills. I didn't even know that a new bill was coming out! It's quite attractive, and I was particularly pleased to see that The Spirit of Haida Gwaii is pictured on the back. This is a massive brass sculpture that I've seen a few times at the Vancouver airport. Last time I passed through there I took a (not very good) picture of it:

I like the Vancouver airport. It is probably the nicest one I've been to, even nicer than Calgary's. I remember returning from a vacation in Mexico in the late 1980s, and coming off the plane into the clean, plushly carpeted Vancouver airport with beautiful art on display really made me appreciate being Canadian. Conditions in Mexico were, shall we say, somewhat less swanky.
