pond in Fish Creek Park

I hiked in Fish Creek Park this morning. It wasn't overly warm, but at least it was sunny. By the time we were ready to come home, it was clouding over, and by this evening it was raining.

While we were there, L saw a tree that had several feet of bark stripped off, and she suggested that a bear might have done it. I pooh-poohed that, saying that it wasn't likely there would be a bear that close to the city in a heavily frequented park. As we were leaving, we saw a sign: Caution - Bear in Area. I had to rush to keep up with L as she headed for the exit.

I'm trying LJ's photo hosting service for this pic; it seems to work OK. I'll have to play with it some more to really understand it, though.

A few examples of trees broken by the accumulation of snow, as mentioned in my last post. The snow is gone, but the damage remains.
