The Calgary Stampede started today. After a week of rain, the weather had cleared, and it was a lovely summer day. I could hear the Stampede parade from my window this morning, but I didn't bother watching. I've seen it too many times. Later in the day, I went downtown to run some errands, and the streets were packed with tourists. The restaurants with outdoor seating on the 8th Avenue mall were all busy, there were booths set up selling food and souvenirs, and street performers entertained the crowds.

On the way home, I bought a box of cherries from one of the booths. They were good, but I would have preferred an ice cream cone. Hmmm, maybe tomorrow...
