Went for a very long walk yesterday, about 5 miles along the Bow River Pathway from downtown to Sandy Beach. That's the furthest we've walked in that direction. In one of the parks where people were walking dogs, we saw a shrine -- news clippings, photos, handwritten notes and flowers taped to a telephone pole -- for a dog sitter who died in a house fire a few days ago while trying to rescue six dogs under her care. About halfway back we decided to give our feet a break and caught a bus, so the total distance walked was around 7 miles.

We had our first thunderstorm of the year in the afternoon. It wasn't very close and didn't last long, but it's a start!

In the evening we went to an Italian restaurant we had been wanting to try for a while. I had a mediocre Ceasar salad and veal parmigiana, an excellent tiramisu, and far too much wine. I slept long and heavily after that.
