(no subject)

Back at work. Actually, I was quite ready to get back after being at home for a week. I was getting a little bored, but my sock drawer is now well-organized, as is my hard drive.

I did some checking yesterday, and my doctor hasn't retired, but he has moved to Edmonton. That's 3.5 hours away, so I'll need to find a new doctor, preferably one in the downtown area. There was a story on the news the other day about the doctor shortage here, so that may be difficult.

I'm re-reading Gene Wolfe's Book of the New Sun tetralogy (or pentalogy, as there is a sequel called Urth of the New Sun). It's a good series, more fantasy than science fiction, though there are SF elements in the background. Wolfe uses the technique of an "unreliable narrator," which can be off-putting but lends itself well to re-reading. As he says, "my definition of good literature is that which can be read by an educated reader, and re-read with increased pleasure."
