(no subject)

My vacation started today, and I am leaving early tomorrow morning for the Okanagan. I expect to be gone about a week. The first stop will be in Lethbridge to visit my Dad and see how he is doing in his new digs. From there, I will take Highway 3 through the Crowsnest Pass into B.C.

It rained on and off throughout the day with sunny intervals, and the forecast is for more of the same both here and in British Columbia. I would like warm, sunny weather for my vacation, but as long as it isn't raining heavily I won't complain (much).

I had to run a number of errands today. This afternoon I was heading to the bank with L, and noticed people standing around looking at something. It was a group of men involved in some sort of dispute. L didn't notice and headed off in that direction, so I had to call her back. "Let's go this way instead." "But the bank is over there..." "There's a brawl about to start there, and I don't want to have to drag you out of the middle of it." We took a slight detour and got our banking done. Such is life in the big city.

I tried a tea called lapsang souchong for the first time. It has a very strong smoky fragrance, like a campfire (or like an old chimney, as L suggested). The flavor wasn't particularly noticeable, being overwhelmed by the scent, and it leaves a tingling in the mouth, similar to whiskey. I'm not quite sure if I like it.
