I got a call from my bank today, saying that my credit card was one of a group that had been "compromised" and that they were going to cancel it and issue me a new one. The thieves hadn't charged anything to my card, fortunately. I didn't think to ask what they meant by "compromised" -- had some files been stolen, or had hackers broken into a website where I had shopped? I'm curious, now that I stop to think about it.
