I'm finding that some of the CD-Rs people burn for me have a lot of static when played in my CD changer, yet they sound fine on my PC's CD-ROM drive and extract to the hard drive without any problem. My CD changer is not a particularly good one, and probably just doesn't handle CD-Rs well. Perhaps it is a question of burning speed; the CD-Rs I burn for myself at 4x sound fine, but most people now burn at higher speeds.

I've been re-burning discs with the static problem, but at some point I expect I'll replace my CD changer. I'll probably end up getting a DVD player or changer -- something that can play standard CDs and DVDs, as well as CD-R, CD-RW and MP3. If I could find one that also played SHNs and FLACs, I'd be in hog heaven.

Anyone want a couple of discs of Branford Marsalis at the Village Vanguard in 2001? Not guaranteed to play without static on your CD player.

I got up around 8:00 a.m. this morning, dressed, and went off to breakfast with L at our usual place. I had something called an Omelette Benedict. Or was it a Benedict Omelette? In any case, it wasn't very good, and it wasn't very warm. I think I'll stick with bacon and eggs in future. Then I visited my barber. He cut my hair a little shorter than I like, but in a few days it'll grow out again. At my age, I'm just glad to have hair -- never mind the length. Back home, I did some reading, listened to music, and fiddled with my backlog of unlistened-to CDs. I've been slack about exercising this past week, but I did some today and hadn't lost any muscle tone to speak of. L has been glued to CNN most of the day, but I've been avoiding the news.
