Went to dinner with L to a restaurant on a quiet, tree-lined street where, in the summer, we can sit on a patio and watch people go by. I had spaghetti with several different sauces. Walking to the restaurant, a woman and a tiny dog (Pekinese?) were coming the other way. The dog headed straight for me and I stopped, not wanting him to be caught underfoot. He walked between my feet and his owner said cheerfully, "He can't see you. He's blind!".

It is still unusually hot here, and I have been taking siestas after work and using lots of ice in an attempt to stay cool. L says it is a luxury to be able to complain about the heat in this part of the world, but I prefer luxury that includes air conditioning.
