(no subject)

Went to the Stampede grounds on Sunday. It was hot, crowded and noisy, as usual, but there were interesting things going on, too. More of that later in this entry.

I have been swamped at work the past couple of days. A lot of it has to do with people being on vacation. I expect I will dig my way out soon.

During Stampede Week, most of the bigger companies and office buildings downtown host Stampede breakfasts on the street. Senior executives dressed in western gear serve up flapjacks, bacon, baked beans and coffee. The better ones feature live country music. Going to work in the morning, I hear the western bands echoing through the streets.
