(no subject)

Yesterday, L wanted to go to a pet store downtown to get some live food for her critters. Because of G8 security, our usual shortcuts throught the Plus-15 network were unavailable, and we were turned back by security guards. We had to take a longer route, down on the street level. At one point, we had to scamper from the crosswalk to the sidewalk when a motorcade rounded the corner and the lead car turned on its siren. Black stretch limos swooshed past. A few blocks further, we came upon a protest march. A police helicopter circled overhead.

I'll be glad when the G8 summit is over, and Calgary can get back to normal.
