I have a 3-day weekend coming up (Monday is a Civic Holiday in Canada). I had tentatively planned an outing to the Crowsnest Pass, but the weather forecast calls for a continuation of the rain and cool temperatures we have been experiencing the past few days. There was actually a frost warning the other night!

I had been thinking about visiting the Crowsnest Pass for a few weeks, when I saw a show on the Food Channel about a local restaurateur who was setting up a new restaurant in Coleman, a town in the region. The show started in front of Mescalero, a Calgary restaurant I am very familiar with. It showed him loading a pickup truck with supplies, then heading off across the south Alberta landscape to Coleman. His new place is called Pick's Roadhouse, named after Emperor Pick, who was a highly successful rum-runner there in the early 1900s. Well, he was successful until they hanged him, anyway. The roadhouse will definitely be on my list of places to visit in the Pass.

I'm doing a trade with a guy in Finland for a Dylan boot I've been looking for, as well as a Van Morrison set. I haven't heard much Van, except his hits like Moondance and Wild Night.

A few examples of trees broken by the accumulation of snow, as mentioned in my last post. The snow is gone, but the damage remains.
