Canada Day

My vacation is over, and I go back to work tomorrow. It should be an interesting week -- only 4 work days, Thursday is L's birthday, and Friday is the kickoff of the Calgary Stampede. I expect I will get Friday morning off, as the Stampede Parade will be held downtown.

I haven't done much the last couple of days. I've been catching up on correspondence, filing, bill paying, etc. And I've been listening to some CD-Rs from my "not listened to" pile, mainly Neil Young and bluegrass concert recordings.

I've also been enjoying Jorma Kaukonen's new Blue Country Heart CD the past few days. It is a collection of old country songs, recorded with some of the top bluegrass musicians. I've been listening to Jorma since 1967, when I got the Jefferson Airplane's Surrealistic Pillow album. He is an outstanding guitarist and, although his vocal skills are limited, he has a pleasant and soothing voice. He writes very well, though not prolifically, and chooses excellent material to cover.
