I've been keeping L provided with a stack of interesting books from the library. Every time I hear about a book that I think she might like, I go to the library's website, see if it is available and if it is, add it to my list. She doesn't like reading fiction, so it's a tall order. Her favourite, so far: Bill Bryson's A Short History of Nearly Everything.
My brother mentioned to me that he is planning to retire in a year, when he turns 60. I'm thinking of retiring in a year, too, but I'm having a hard time planning for it or even thinking about it. I seem to spend more time and effort planning relatively trivial things (like buying a new computer) than on big picture items like career and life planning. I don't know if that is an individual personality flaw, or just human nature. Anyway, things usually seem to work out for me.
It's supposed to be a warm, sunny weekend here. A pleasant change from the wind, rain and cold of the past few days.
